Elysium Looks to Support Health
Elysium Health is a health startup that was founded by world-renowned aging researcher Dr. Leonard Guarente. Dr. Guarente, an MIT professor and winner of numerous prestigious awards, joined forces with Eric Marcotulli and Dan Alminana to create a consumer health company that is 100 percent dedicated to quality, purity, and rigorous science. In an industry that’s often criticized, Elysium Health is a shining beacon of integrity and scientific rigor.
The leadership team at Elysium Health seeks to serve the broader health community. Working as the CEO of the company is Eric Marcotulli. Before his time at Elysium Health, Marcotulli was a partner at Sequoia Capital. Eric earned his BA from Princeton University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. Taking care of the operational and financial elements of Elysium Health is the COO Dan Alminana. Previously, he was a vice president in JP Morgan’s Venture Capital coverage group in Silicon Valley.
Elysium Health makes a daily supplement called Basis. Basis increases levels of NAD+ in our bodies to support our cellular health. This essential coenzyme is part of many of our cellular functions like maintaining DNA health, circadian rhythms, and energy creation. The levels of this coenzyme decline as we age, and those processes stop functioning. Basis increases those levels, sustains them, and supports our cellular health.
To make sure that Basis works as advertised, Elysium Health put the supplement through a clinical trial in 2016. Those who took the recommended dose of Basis during the trial had their NAD+ levels rise by an average of 40 percent and remain there for the duration of the trial. The results of the trial were published in November 2017 in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.
Visit Elysium Health’s website to buy Basis. The company offers Basis in a variety of subscriptions. Monthly subscriptions start at $50 per month. Prepaying for a longer subscription decreases the cost per month to $45 ($270 for six months) or $40 dollars ($480 for twelve months) per month.
Elysium Health is also developing new products that focus on cognitive health, skin health, muscle function, and circadian rhythms. These products are currently in various stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials.
