Pop-up shop by Tumblr at NYFW
Since the past 10 years Tumblr has been sending a bunch of bloggers to the New York Fashion Week to cover it and making major shows accessible to them. The blogging platform owned by Yahoo is organising a couple of new things to rejoice the anniversary. From Friday to Sunday Tumblr is going to put up the pop-up shop at 339 W. 38th Street. Collections of all the designers are going to be on display at the shop. Meet-ups and special events are also going to be held with Galore magazine’s Nicola Formichetti. It is also going to invite 11 bloggers who had previously participated in the program. A Tumblr rep revealed that the pop-up shop was an answer to Alexander Wang’s 10th anniversary collection and the bloggers would also get an opportunity to meet with various designers.
This year John McLaughlin is going to return to the NYFW. McLaughlin said that by participating in the program a considerable boost was created in the freelance jobs. This season Sam Cannon is also going to return to the program. Just like McLaughlin he too did not have much knowledge about the industry before he attended the fashion week with the blogging platform known as Tumblr.
Cannon was just a student when she had participated for the first time and was very excited to be a part of the program. She landed a couple of jobs due to the experience and exposure she got. It has been just one year since she left college and she has been shooting full-time. Rachel Schwartzmann is also going to be back this season. Many bloggers may have left Tumblr for other websites and platforms but some even now prefer Tumblr because of its personal touch and community feeling. According to Cannon, Tumblr provides a comfortable platform to put one’s creative endeavours without pondering upon how they would be received or looked at.
