The 2016 Pirelli Calendar will look different

The Pirelli Calendar usually features the most famous faces of show business with top models and celebrities. It also focuses on behind the scenes photographers and stylists and other team members. The Cal as it is famously known usually have very less clothes involved. But 43rd edition, photographed by Annie Leibovitz, will look quite different from its previous editions. This time, Serena Williams, Tavi Gevinson, Amy Schumer and some other influential women are part of the calendar. The legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz photographed these inspirational women as part of the 12 month theme of artistry and sexiness combined together.

The final stars for the 43rd annual edition are some very famous people, like Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Serena Williams, Natalia Vodianova, Tavi Gevinson, Yao Chen, Fran Lebowitz, Ava DuVernay, Agnes Gund, Shirin Neshat, Amy Schumer, Mellody Hobson, and Kathleen Kennedy. In an official statement Annie Leibovitz talked about her vision behind lining up the actresses, models, finance executives, musicians and other inspirational women for this edition of the calendar.

The 2016 Pirelli Calendar will look different

As per Annie the vision is to make an exciting portrait of women who play a role in our lives with their achievements. The shoot took place in the studio as she wanted it simple and natural with all the strong women posing for each month. Her idea is to keep fakeness out of the calendar.

Leibovitz has also shot for the Pirelli calendar in the year 2000. Therefore it is not the first time for the photographer to shoot for Pirelli. The calendar, which made its debut in the year 1964, has given Leibovitz the second opportunity to shoot for its portrait making her a part of the 10 photographers who have worked for the calendar twice. She is also among the four female photographers who shot for Pirelli. The 2016 edition will surely be different from the usual Pirelli calendar.
